BARCODES are one of the main software applications in recent years

For a small cost they enable an unambiguous identification of a range of retail goods. This graphic code is indelible, little cumbersome, all material compliant, has internationally been adopted by all the distribution sectors because of its reliability and easy use.

Today a person unable to read printed documents can all on his own and independently

• recognize frequently used goods

• organize his own belongings

• archive and find classified documents

take care of his own health

This project is based on the use of a free experimental software coupled with a scanner of barcodes which facilitate the use of the usual standards of access to the information.  In doing so the project proves that our society should fully recognize the expertise acquired by every citizen when confronted with his handicap. The latter is too often underestimated.

Besides the possibility of ordering on-line or by telephone, a first step is thus set towards more autonomy of a person when purchasing directly in a shop, without requiring any assistance or just only a minimal help.
